7Skyline’s Ongoing ‘Power Up’ Series Drives Momentum for Tribal Energy Innovation

Tailored events equip Tribes with critical insights for navigating their energy transitions

May 13, 2025

Portland, OR – 7Skyline is proud to highlight the Power Up Tribal Energy Series—a community-driven initiative supporting Tribal Nations across North America in advancing their renewable energy goals. Through grassroots events co-developed with Tribal partners, Power Up events provide accessible energy education, clarify funding and technical pathways, and foster collaborations that center around Tribal sovereignty and self-determination in energy planning.

Each Power Up event is locally tailored, culturally grounded, and focused on equipping Tribes with the tools, technical knowledge, and collaborative connections needed to make informed decisions about their energy futures.

David Harper, Executive Officer for 7Skyline and a member of the Colorado River Indian Tribes, shared that at Power Ups, “we gather in a good way, where everyone is equal: elders, children, all community members. We sit, listen, and learn, honoring our past and present… through oral tradition.”

“The events provide information on energy options open to Tribal communities,” said Jennifer Rouda, founder and principal at 7Skyline. “We’ve been working diligently and respectfully with Tribal partners to support energy sovereignty and capacity-building.”

To date, Power Ups have been hosted in partnership with several Tribes across the U.S. 7Skyline works in tandem with each Tribal sponsor to ensure their event reflects the values and priorities of the host community—ranging from symposiums and breakout discussions to outdoor energy fairs—featuring real-world Tribal energy projects, cultural integration, and participation from elders, youth, and Tribal enterprises.

The Power Up approach centers on:

● Bridging knowledge gaps in renewable energy.

● Uplifting Tribal energy sovereignty through education and dialogue.

● Showcasing community-driven solutions to technical and policy challenges.

● Empowering Tribal leaders and members with practical tools and engagement with our trusted partners.

Upcoming Power Ups are planned in Maine, Oregon, Southern California, Hawai’i, Arizona, Oklahoma, and Minnesota, with formats ranging from local events to statewide conferences codeveloped with participating Tribes and partners. Through these events, 7Skyline affirms its long-term commitment to Tribally-led partnerships, cultural respect, and data and energy sovereignty.

All community data remains under the authority of the host Tribe, and all media, recordings, and communications are approved with full Tribal consent.
